Merten Reunion

Image
Well, my dad's side of the family decided to put together a reunion.  I was unsure about going as thoughts of the awkward conversations fill my head.  The visions of introductions as to who I am and how I am related to these people.  Most of them have seen me since I was a little girl, and with my dad being gone  now he would not be there to help make the connection.  But with a threat from my sister, and knowing that both my uncles would be there and that they wanted me there, I decided to go.  The event was held at my Great-Uncle Charley's house.  He lives about an hour away on the way out to the beach.  I thought my parents lived out in no-man's land.....boy was I wrong.  Charley lives in NO-MAN's land!  It was gorgeous out there though.  He has his own vineyard and lots of acreage.  They had a bounce house, dunk tank, and drawing area for the kids.  Tables of food, beverages, and desserts.  The festivities w...

Comparison

Per my mom's request I am posting some pictures of me when I was young and some pictures of Brylee.  My mom was recently going through some old photos and gave me these.  She said that she could not believe the similarities as she was looking at the pictures.  So Mom here you go! These are me at 13, 15 & 16 months:                               And here is Miss Brylee:                                                                   Other than I had a lot more hair than her at the same age, we do look pretty ...

New Ride

Image
Brad is sporting a new vehicle these days.  We got the money from our insurance company for his mustang and went on a mad search to find something as a replacement.  It took a few weeks (yes I even lost a bet because I thought we could find something sooner :( ).  Here is his BMW 528i (after I gave it a nice wash ;) ).  So the update so far is Brad is still continuing with physical therapy.  He is getting better, but we are not sure how long it will take to get him feeling completely good again.  Our lawyer is/will be handling any other insurance conversations (THANK GOODNESS!!!)   Brad's wrist is pretty much healed all the way.  The therapists said they have now found the "root" problem from the accident and can focus on it now that some fluid and swelling have gone down.  Brock seems to be 100%.  He has had no additional problems since the accident thankfully and operates at normal capacity.

TBALL FINALLE!

T-ball was a great adventure this year.  We really did not know we were signing up for so much when Brad took the job of coach.  Putting together schedules, calendars, sending emails, making phone calls and then actually having to be to every game or practice at least 15 minutes early (OK there were a few we were only 5 minutes early)!  Brad and I have to say though that it was so much fun! He has even said that he will probably be coaching next season as well.  Brock will be old enough to play and he and Brayden will be on the same team.  We only had to rain out one game.  We got pretty lucky with our schedule and the weather!  Our "Little Tykes Under the Lights" was re-scheduled and the boys had a blast.  They thought it was so cool to be playing on the "big field!"  They were all surprised (so were we) when they received medals at the end of our second game that night. Here they are! So proud! Here are a few other photos f...

Eagle Crest

This year for Father's Day weekend we made plans with my parents and my sister and her family to spend the weekend in Eagle Crest, Oregon  (click on it if you would like to check it out :)).  It is located in Eastern Oregon about 3 hours from Portland.  One of John's friends, actually he is my dentist, has a yearly golf tournament there.  John and my mom went last year and invited the rest of us this year.  They rented a super nice house for all of us to stay in.  We all packed up and headed out Friday afternoon.  The golf tournament was Saturday.  The boys were so excited to bring their bikes and be able to do some of the activities they have available there.  Friday night was filled with riding bikes and checking out the house and the facilities of the resort.  Saturday Brad, Tony, my mom and John went golfing in the tournament.  It rained on them a little, but they had a good time none the less.  Brittany and I had all the...

Dozer Day 2011

Image
Dozer Day was a great adventure again this year.  The boys were excited to go see all the "tractors" again.  We got there about 15 minutes before they opened on Saturday.  It is a 2 day event and last year we were there in the afternoon and it was pretty busy.  All the lines were long and we barely managed to find a couple shorter lines so the boys would not have to wait forever to ride a tractor.  Well, getting there early proved to not be a great idea either.  We stood in a LONG line to wait until they opened (what is 15 minutes people!?!).  Guess lots of people had the same idea! After getting in we b-lined it over to the tractors to get a few rides in right away.  It worked out perfectly and we did not have to wait in a line over 10 minutes!  Brock did not want to go ride the tractors once we got there (he had been talking about it for days).  He changed his mind and clung near me for a while.  Brayden on the other hand t...

Spunky, Sassy and Full of Love

Image
Well, it is probably long overdue that Miss Brylee get an update of her own.  The last one I did was when she turned one.  She is now 16 months and full of attitude! A girl after my own heart.  No one is going to tell her what to do! She is so full of sass.  I love it most of the time and sometimes don't enjoy dealing with the repercussions of it.   She had her 15 month check up a month back.  Brylee is following in her brother's footsteps (Brock).  She is 26 1/2 pounds, 27 inches tall and in the 90th and 95th percentiles.  This girl is solid! Brylee is starting to try and say many words.  She almost says "hat" and "up," "uh-oh," "uh-un" (no) are regular ones we hear daily.  Of course, momma and dadda have been there for some time now.  When she can't say the word she will point to it or just squeal at the top of her lungs until someone gets whatever it is that she needs/wants.  This girl is no dummy. ...
