The Great Train Expo
What could be the best thing to go see when you are 3 and 5 years old!?! Why, the Great Train Expo of course! It came to town February 19th and 20th. Brad and I saw a commercial late one night and thought the boys would absolutely love it. Trains, trains and more trains.
Brock of course wore is conductor overalls, or as he calls them his "tiny town pants." Tiny town being the Tiny Town Railroad we visited while in Colorado visiting Uncle Eric and Aunt Jenn last summer.
It was held at the Portland Expo Center. As we pulled up and parked, there was a train in the parking lot giving out rides to people. Brayden and Brock did not seem too impressed with it, though they did watch it circle around. We headed inside. As you walked through the doors, there were tables and tables of trains. So many older gentleman who have a hobby they have enjoyed since their childhood. There were trains of all sizes and generations set up on tracks with the towns, bridges and hillsides accompanying them. The boys wanted to touch and be "hands on," but this was a no-no for many of the trains. They were there to look at and enjoy. Many people were selling any and every type of train you could imagine. Brad asked one gentleman about some replacement track pieces for a train we got the boys a while ago, but we decided to wait to repair any of it till they are a little bit older.
Lots of observing:
It was great to see all the trains, and the men who were so proud of what they had built there. I am on a mission now to find a railroad sign that blinks with red lights for the boys. It would be awesome in their room or down in the basement with their train tracks. Guess, we will have to venture to next year's show to see if any larger ones show up.

There was one train they could control, which they both enjoyed doing. There was also an actual train whistle hooked up to a vacuum that the boys took a turn at. As it was about time to go, we found a kids table that all 3 of them joined around. We actually had to coax Brock away from it! :)
