4th of July BBQ

I invited a few new PTA friends and some family over to our place for a BBQ on the 4th.  Brad's parents were in town then and got to join in the celebration with us.  I think with all the kids and parents in was about 27 people. 

My co-president in the PTA with me, Sarah helped co-host it.  See the theme here, we like doing things together. :)

We had the pool going for the kids, corn hole and ladder ball set up, along with our swing set, decorations, lounge spots, food and drinks.  Everyone got to mingle and get a little time getting to know each other and our families.

At the end of the evening, we set off some fireworks! Of course, the kids were "oohing" and "awing" at the ones with the longest sprays of light.  In Oregon, anything that goes higher than 5 feet off the ground is illegal so we stuck with the family friendly ones. ;)

I was so busy hosting that I only have 2 pictures to show for the whole afternoon/evening, but you'll just have to trust that we were having a good time!

We did enjoy spending July 4th with you guys, and watching all those fireworks. The food and decorations were great too! We have some pictures of our trip there, but none on the 4th.

So I found this desk I don't know just over a year ago.  It was before we moved.  My mother-in-law was visiting and we spotted this kids desk sitting out at a neighbor's house with a Free sign on it.  Brad was sceptical and wondered why I picked it up.  It needed a little work, but I thought it would be great as an art desk for the kids.  Before: When we moved it came along with us.  I had not touched it up to that point.  And after we moved it sat for a month or so as it was not one of the top priorities at the time.  Late November (I think) we finally went and picked out some paint for it.  The boys and I decided on a bright orange.  Yes, we are talking "Construction Warning" orange! Peacock Lane

We took a trip to a local Christmas Landmark- Peacock Lane.  It is in Portland.  Every house on the lane decorates with Christmas lights.  Several do amazing things! I had not been since I was younger.  I had wanted to take the kids in the past couple years, but we just did not make it. We had a clear, dry night and took advantage. :)
