A Graduation BBQ

Well, it is official, my cousin Devin has graduated High School. I feel a little old now since it feels like not long ago I was playing with her and teasing her about watching Barney (you know the big purple dinosaur). She was about 3 years old then and now she will soon be off to college. She is going to be studying at the Nintendo Campus , in Washington. This is near the Microsoft campus up there and also where they develop video games. She has always loved playing video games, so her hobby is now going to become a career.

So my mom's side of the family all got together to celebrate this BIG event. My aunt Mary (Devin's mom) threw a BBQ at her house in order to gather us Meirow folks.

It was lovely to see everyone, and to see Mary's house. This house is new in that she has not lived there very long (OK it has been about 3 years, but this is the first time I have been there to see it), but old in that they have worked and worked on it to restore and fix up this old farm house.

So I found this desk I don't know just over a year ago.  It was before we moved.  My mother-in-law was visiting and we spotted this kids desk sitting out at a neighbor's house with a Free sign on it.  Brad was sceptical and wondered why I picked it up.  It needed a little work, but I thought it would be great as an art desk for the kids.  Before: When we moved it came along with us.  I had not touched it up to that point.  And after we moved it sat for a month or so as it was not one of the top priorities at the time.  Late November (I think) we finally went and picked out some paint for it.  The boys and I decided on a bright orange.  Yes, we are talking "Construction Warning" orange! Peacock Lane

We took a trip to a local Christmas Landmark- Peacock Lane.  It is in Portland.  Every house on the lane decorates with Christmas lights.  Several do amazing things! I had not been since I was younger.  I had wanted to take the kids in the past couple years, but we just did not make it. We had a clear, dry night and took advantage. :)
