SNOW!!!

We just got a little snow storm around here!!!
The kids and I were super excited.  We do not get very many snow storms in the winter, so this was a special treat.  It came in on a Thursday. Brayden and Brock actually had to dismiss early from school because the snow started falling just before lunch time and they were worried about the build up by the end of the school day. 

They got a snow day of Friday.  NO SCHOOL!!!

The snow lasted through the weekend and even into the next week.  Monday was again a snow day with no school. Tuesday warmed us up and we were able to get back to a normal routine for the rest of the week.

Rogue was in heaven! She is such a snow dog!!!

We did not have the proper "snow gear" for the kids to be outside playing, but we made due with other clothes. :)

All in all, I think we got about 5 inches. After about 4 inches we got a huge round of freezing rain that coated everything in a 1/2" of ice.  Then a little more snow fell. I couldn't get to work for my 2 shifts on the weekend.  The store even stayed closed on one day (which has not happened in my 13.5 years)! The boys helped shovel and earned some hot chocolates for doing some work in the snow. :) It was great to have a little break and some white stuff on the ground!

So I found this desk I don't know just over a year ago.  It was before we moved.  My mother-in-law was visiting and we spotted this kids desk sitting out at a neighbor's house with a Free sign on it.  Brad was sceptical and wondered why I picked it up.  It needed a little work, but I thought it would be great as an art desk for the kids.  Before: When we moved it came along with us.  I had not touched it up to that point.  And after we moved it sat for a month or so as it was not one of the top priorities at the time.  Late November (I think) we finally went and picked out some paint for it.  The boys and I decided on a bright orange.  Yes, we are talking "Construction Warning" orange! Peacock Lane

We took a trip to a local Christmas Landmark- Peacock Lane.  It is in Portland.  Every house on the lane decorates with Christmas lights.  Several do amazing things! I had not been since I was younger.  I had wanted to take the kids in the past couple years, but we just did not make it. We had a clear, dry night and took advantage. :)
