Brayden's class blog

I have been meaning to put this on here.  Brayden's teacher writes a blog for their classroom.  She does not include their names on it, but gives information about what they are working on in their class, field trips and projects. So here is the link if you are interested in the happenings of a second grade class . I will also add it to my blog list on the upper right-hand side of my blog. Enjoy!

Halloween Tricks and Treats...

Image
As Halloween came near this year, Brock had a field trip to the pumpkin patch that Brylee and I were lucky enough to tag along on.  Brylee was actually suppose to be in school this morning, but didn't feel well, so off she went with me. (It turned out after a doctor's office visit a day or so later that she had pneumonia :( oops!) We drove our car there and met the kids who took the bus. I was in charge of a group of 3 kids from Brock's class, along with another mom.  We each had our younger ones there, so it worked out perfectly.  Brylee really fit in like one of the Kindergartners.  We got to take fresh pressed apple cider, see some animals, the kids went thru a little maze and down a slide, pick out pumpkins, and eat lunch.   Brylee wearing her costume to school!    Treats I made for Brad's work. :) Pumpkins from our garden!    Time to carve!!    Finished...

Brylee's bedroom re-vamp

We decided it was time to make the jump from the toddler bed to a big girl bed for miss Brylee!  We had been telling her once she was potty trained and not having any accidents at night, we would change her bed.  Well, she followed through on her end, so we had to too! ;) We started small, by painting her dresser and finishing some touch-ups on her trim.  I took down all her wall stickers that matched her nursery bedding too.  I ordered some new curtains and went on the hunt for the bed and bedding.  I knew I wanted a white platform bed with drawers under the bed.  Her room is so tiny, the extra storage would help in a major way! Brylee had a tough time choosing between Hello Kitty bedding and Disney Princess bedding.  Dora was also in the mix for a small time, but in the end it was the Disney Princesses who won out. The bed we decided on, there was only one left and it was damaged, so we had to order another to come into the store...

Soccer Season 2013

Image
Both Brayden and Brock asked to enroll in soccer this year.  The only down side, they are too far apart in age to be on the same team. We did get two awesome coaches that we know through the boys' schools.  Brock was on a U6 team this year.  He was with 3 girls from his class and then 2 other kids.  He was one of 2 boys on the team.  Brayden was on a U8 team.  He had 8 kids on his team, including 2 girls. Next year, they will separate girls and boys onto different teams.  Both boys had amazing seasons! They tore up the fields, literally sometimes! I was so impressed with their development through the season.  They both are very gifted with athletic ability, but their direction and accuracy improved throughout the season. Being that both had 2 practices and 1 game a week, it made for a very busy season! We had one with practices on Monday and Wednesdays and the other with practices Tuesday and Thursday.  We only had a couple games ov...

Black Butte Birthday Weekend

Image
We took a little weekend getaway for Brayden and my mom's birthdays.  They rented this super huge house for us and my sister's family to join them all weekend.  We let the kids miss school Friday and took off after school on Thursday afternoon.  It is about a 2.5 hour drive over the Santiam pass to get there.  It is a resort town near Sisters, Oregon.  It was the perfect weekend! The car was loaded with suitcases, some food, bikes and gifts.      We spent some time playing tennis, hanging out in the hot tub at the house.  Brad went golfing with my parents.  They boys got to go do a few holes as well.  We took some bike rides around the property.  We also went to the pool and splash pad one day with our kids plus my sisters! Talk about crazy fun keeping track of 5 kids under the age of 8 in a pool! Whew! We didn't lose anyone! ;)      There were games played, some good meals cooke...
